Michael Liebling

Michael LieblingMichael Liebling (SM’00-M’04) received the MS (physics, 2000) and PhD (with a thesis in the areas of image processing and digital holography, 2004) from the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland. From 2004 to 2007, he was a Postdoctoral Scholar in Biology at the California Institute of Technology. Since 2007, he is an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of California, Santa Barbara. His research interests include biological microscopy and image processing for the study of dynamic biological processes.

He was the Technical Program co-chair of the IEEE International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging (ISBI) in 2011 and 2013 and is the vice chair of the IEEE Signal Processing Society’s Bio-Imaging and Signal Processing technical committee.
