Dr. Sunder is a Senior Consultant Cardiothoracic and Transplant Surgeon in Apollo Hospitals, Chennai, India with over 20 years’ experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery. He graduated from Stanley Medical College, Chennai, India in 1986 and obtained his Masters in General Surgery from the University of Madras in 1992. He subsequently trained in Cardiothoracic Surgery both in India and England and obtained the FRCS from Royal college of Surgeons of England – for General Surgery (1996) and for Cardiothoracic Surgery (2002).
His areas of clinical interests include Mechanical Circulatory Support ( ECMO – Extra corporeal Membrane Oxygenation, LVAD – Left Ventricular Assist Devices) ,Heart and Lung Transplantation, Aortic Surgery, Pulmonary Thromboendarterectomy, VATS- Video Assisted Thoracic Surgery and Thoracic Oncologic surgery.
He is also a Visiting Faculty at Annamalai University, Chidambaram and Faculty at the Ethicon Institute of Surgical Education. He is a Life member of the Indian Medical Association, Indian Association of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeons and Charter Life Member of Venous Association of India. He is also International Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians and Overseas Fellow of The Royal College of Surgeons of England.
He is also involved in Clinical Risk Stratification, Health Care Predictive Analytics, Electronic Health Records and Hospital Information Systems.
