C.T. Lim

Dr. Chwee Teck (C.T.) LimDr. Chwee Teck (C.T.) Lim is a Professor of Bioengineering at the National University of Singapore. He is also a Principal Investigator at the university’s Mechanobiology Institute. He is founding member of the Department of Bioengineering and the university’s Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Initiative. Prof Lim’s research interests include mechanobiology of human diseases and the development of microfluidic biochips for disease detection and diagnosis. In particular, he and his team has developed and commercialized microfluidic biochips which can detect, isolate and retrieve viable rare circulating cancer cells from patient’s blood and have potential applications for detection, diagnosis and prognosis.

Prof Lim has authored more than 190 journal papers (including 30 invited/review articles and 12 ISI highly cited papers), 19 book chapters and delivered more than 185 plenary/keynote/invited talks. He is currently on the editorial boards of 11 international journals. Prof Lim has recently been elected as a Council Member of the World Council for Biomechanics. Prof Lim has won several research awards and honors including the Asian Entrepreneurship Award, President’s Technology Award, IES Prestigious Engineering Achievement Award, Faculty Research Award, HFSP Research Grant Award, highly cited author awards and best paper awards in international conferences. His research was cited by the MIT Technology Review magazine as one of the top ten emerging technologies of 2006 that will “have a significant impact on business, medicine or culture” .
